Season starts one week after the scheduled season starts (Spring –Generally the
2nd Saturday in March and, for Fall-Generally the 2nd
Saturday in September). Season runs for about 10 weeks and ends no later than
May 11th for the Spring Season and Mid Nov for the fall season. We have NO play dates for Spring
Break and Easter to help with family plans.
Games are on Saturdays; times will vary but most are in the morning or
midafternoon. If games are rained
out, the coaches will need to agree on a make-up date (during the week, or
weekend) and schedule with OSC for a field to use.
OSC has an agreement with the competitive branch/Club (NEOFC), and their
coaching staff will train each team one evening a week (Mon, Tues, or Thurs) at
the Soccer fields at the Owasso Game fields.
Each team will have a parent coach to oversee the weekly session and the
30 minute pre-game session prior to their games on Saturdays. All games and practices will be held
at the OSC game fields.
No team in U5 or U6 will be expected to practice more than one evening a week. A practice should last no longer than
45min. On Saturdays it would be good to
review what was learned for 20-30 min. prior to the scheduled game.
Each game consists of 4 quarters at 8 minutes each. There shall be a 2-minute break
between each quarter and a 5 min. half (switch sides at half).
Each player shall play a minimum of two full quarters. Each player shall sit out
one quarter when four or more players are present on a team.
Substitutions can occur at quarters, halftime, or after play stopped due to
injury (either team).
OSC does not assign Referees to U5/U6 games.
1 or both coaches can stay on the field to help players understand the
game, keep time, stop/restart, and direction of play. When play is stopped for a foul, a
brief explanation should be
given to the players as to why the call was made.
