Entry Level Referee Course - February 11, 12, 13 - Owasso Soccer Club Spring 2013

Owasso Soccer Club is hosting its Spring 2013 Recreational Referee course February 11, 12 and 13. This is the entry-level course for those interested in becoming a soccer referee for the first time. The class is for youth and adult alike. It is a 9-hour course divided into three 3-hour classes. The class schedule is as follows:

• MON 2/11/13 6:00PM-9:00PM
• TUES 2/12/13 6:00PM-9:00PM
• WED 2/13/13 6:00PM-9:00PM

All classes will be held at the Owasso Soccer Club field house in the Owasso Sports Park. The street address is 10320 East 116th Street North. A map of the complex can be found here: http://oscsoccer.com/documents/OSCCOMPLEXMAP.pdf

Payment is due at the beginning of the first session of the course. Checks should be made payable to: Owasso Soccer Club. The cost of the course is $60, which includes your course book and law book, and upon successful completion, your referee badge and registration for 2013. You must attend all 9 hours of the course. The last session will include a 50 question test. You must score a minimum 37 correct out of 50 to pass. The test is multiple choice and true/false.

You must pre-enroll for the class. Seating is limited and anyone who shows up not pre-enrolled will be turned away if the enrollment number has been reached. To pre-enroll, email David Moore at: dave_5511@yahoo.com

Completion of this course, the recreational Grade 09 referee course, will qualify the candidate as a referee and assistant referee (aka "linesman") for recreational games up to the U14 level.

There is a practice test available online. This test is designed for 08 grade referees (the level above 09) who have already been referees and are recertifying, so don't be discouraged if you don't score well on the practice test the first time. I include this information for those who wish to get a feel for what the test is like before they attend the class. It is not expected for a new referee candidate to know all the answers to this practice test, but I believe it can be a useful study guide and preparation tool.
